Easter

Wellll this past Sunday was Aria's first Easter.  My mom got her a super cute little Easter dress for church that she looked SO adorable in.

We got her an Easter basket full of books, bubbles, toys, and she got a giant stuffed bunny. She loved everything.
This year we were with my side of the family, so we had Easter dinner at my parents' house, and then my whole extended family came over for desserts and to have an Easter egg hunt for the littles.  Cord carried Aria around and tried to make her pick up her own eggs... yeah I think she got one by herself.

On another note, I got a calling as a 7-8 year old primary teacher.  I sat in on Sunday and was reminded how hilarious little kids are.  I'm pretty excited about it.

My Mom is Cool!

My mom's birthday was this past week!  Me, her, and Aria went to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate.

Ever since I quit my job to become a stay-at-home mom, I've gotten to spend more time with just me, Aria, and my mom.  And I'm so glad I have!  My mom is always more than willing to take me to lunch, and any day I want to just go over to her house in Layton to hang out, I can.  This has been a lifesaver since sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy staying home all day every day.

One of my favorite things about going over to my mom's house is that she ALWAYS has a homemade treat around.  And man is she good at baking.  Her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies remain my favorite things in the world, and probably always will.

My mom is always more than willing to listen to my problems or stories, and I know she really cares about what I'm going through.  She is, and always has been, so generous with her time and resources.  The first week after having Aria, I don't know how I would have gotten through if it hadn't been for my mom bringing us a healthy, home-cooked meal every day.

Another thing I admire about my mom is when she does something, she gives her all.  Every church calling she has, I've been so impressed at the time and effort she puts into it, no matter what the calling is.  The same goes with her college classes.  It's been a good reminder and example for me.

I love my mom.  I am so grateful we live close so I can see her so much!  Happy Birthday, Mom!

6 Months Old and Other Exciting Updates

Well, Aria is six months old!  I really can't believe my baby is halfway to her first birthday!  Where has the time gone??
  • As you can see, her hair is long enough now to do a little ponytail!
  • She is real good at sitting up on her own now
  • We've introduced a bunch of new fruits to her, and she loves everything except avocados.  She HATES them.  (So do I)
  • She laughs all the time!
  • She says "da da" and "gee gee" over and over.  All day long.
  • She is in 6 month and 6-9 month clothing
  • She is currently trying her hardest to learn to crawl, but hasn't quite gotten it down yet
  • She sleeps a solid 12 hours at night now in her own room!  Clearly this is the one I'm most excited about :)
  • When I sing to her, she laughs at me
  • She weighs 15 Ibs 11 oz. (42%), she is 26" long (55%), and her head circumference is 16.25" (24%)
In other exciting news, Cord got a new job!  It is temporary, and only goes til January of next year, but we felt like it was the best move for us.  It pays double what he makes now at L-3 and it'll give him a lot of great management experience.  So basically he will be doing what he does for the Guard right now, but full time!  So he gets to dress in uniform every day.  Lucky him!

Other than that, we are both just finishing up our semesters of school!  I can't wait for summertime!

Baby Colds and When Will the Hormones End.

Poor little Aria officially caught her first cold.  She's a snuffly thing that secretes mucus everywhere. And I mean everywhere. But babies handle sickness better than adults, I think.  She hasn't needed more sleep (oh wait time for me to brag, she sleeps through the night now!  Like, from 8 pm to 8 am without me having to go in there once!  Awesome.) and she's still just as happy as ever.  She laughs at my funny faces and everything.
But it makes you sad to see your kid sick!  There's not much more I can do than keep her eating and hydrated, rub some Baby Vicks on her chest, and let her sleep with the humidifier.

On a completely unrelated note, I love Pinterest now.  Sloan always told me I would.  I basically started following everyone I know and man, it's addicting!  It brings out a crafty, organized side of me I didn't even know was there.

And lastly, this childbirth thing is turning into a 2 year ordeal.  My hair is STILL falling out, I'm STILL getting nauseated, my nose is STILL super-sensitive, and I'm STILL crying over the dumbest things.  I read recently that it's still post-baby hormones!  Like, for real?  Cool, body.  Now I know why people have their kids 1 year apart, just get all this crap out of the way, all at once.
